Moving sucks.

Sadly, Ryan and I have had to put a hold on finding a place together due to the awful ridiculousness that is San Francisco housing market. Decent 1 bedroom apartments are averaging about $2400/mo. At that rate, I might as well buy a place.

So I’ve been searching for a new place with roommates on my own, since I have to leave my current place anyway. Finding awesome places in my price range is easy, finding roommates that would be easy to live with however, is a whole other story.

I’ve sent out about a dozen responses to ads and have only gotten one response back. It’s maddening and frustrating. I know I’m a great roommate, my roommates know I’m a great roommate. Trying to convince someone in a little email that I’m a great roommate? It’s tough shit. Wish me luck.

Friday night, Ryan and I saw Maya Rudolph and Gretchen Lieberum’s Prince cover band, Princess, at Yoshi’s. We’ve been looking forward to it ever since we got the tickets around Christmas and have been singing “Darling Nikki” to each other non-stop for the past month. They were amazing and everything we could have ever hoped for.

We danced our asses off and that’s really saying something because Ryan does NOT dance.

By the way, uhhh… who wants to snag me that Prince tambourine?!

RIP, Vivian Brown. You and your sister brought so much joy to San Francisco.

#Nevermore is hung and ready to go! Opening is TONIGHT, 6-10pm.

Can’t think of a better way to end this extended holiday weekend.

Yesterday didn’t suck.

Yesterday, Ryan and I built another crate to hold my receiver so it didn’t have to sit under my turntable anymore and risk overheating.

Then we listened to Michael Jackson’s Off The Wall and made ourselves a delicious steak dinner to reward ourselves for a productive day off.

Ta da! Loving my new configuration. I can see my TV so much better up there.

Yesterday was the only day I could make it to the annual (free!) Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival here in San Francisco. Had an awesome time getting a little drunk, sitting up on a dirt hill with a perfect view of the stage, hanging with my pals, then getting up close for Jenny Lewis and being mentally transported back to my high school days of listening to Rilo Kiley. Hope all of you SF’ers are enjoying the rest of it this weekend too.

Cheers to this fantastic San Francisco summer weather and also to you, moon.

(I love having a balcony attached to my room.)

My dear friend, Jake Wood, won tonight’s round of Guitar Center’s Annual Drum-Off competition.

If I understand correctly, he’ll be competing again next week against the other San Francisco finalists and if he wins THAT, he’ll go onto the national finals. I’m so proud of him!

Take a peek at his winning drum solo. I’m so glad I caught it on video. You can tell he works endlessly perfecting his craft. He’s a wonderful drum teacher, has great charisma and is one of the funniest dudes I know. Also a plus- one of his biggest influences are the Muppets, so he definitely has that going for him.
